KALAMAZOO, MI — After raising $7,345 to buy 10 protective vests for the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety K-9 Units and Springfield Public Safety K-9 Units, the staff of the KALSEE Credit Union broke the Guinness World Records on Monday for most coins tossed in a bucket in one minute with 869 coins. KALSEE Credit Union was closed for President’s Day, but the staff of about 60 people gathered at the Bronson Athletic Club for their three attempts at breaking the world record. Philip Robertson, adjudicator of the Guinness World Records, was in attendance. “I am very impressed by what you have done for your community here,” Robertson said. The group had a one-minute time frame to try to set a new record for number of coins tossed into a 5-gallon bucket from a circle of people ten feet away. Sgt. Scott Sanderson, supervisor of the K-9 unit, said that the gesture was much appreciated. “I’m very grateful that KALSEE is doing this for the dogs.”
