FAQS

How can I earn the higher rate?

Every KALSEE member is automatically part of our My KALSEE Perks program, where you earn points for banking with us. The more products and services you use, the more points you get! Your points then earn you Gold, Silver, Platinum, or VIP status. The higher your status, the more Perks you get. To boost your status to Platinum or VIP, try signing up for a new service, like Online Banking, Bill Pay, or CU*Talk phone banking. Or you could open a new account or apply for a loan.

To see your current Perks status, login to It’s Me 247 Online Banking. On the left, you’ll see a section labeled “Rewards.” This will tell you your current Perks level. Click “View Point Details” to see the breakdown of how you’re scoring and get ideas for earning more points.

You must keep your Platinum or VIP Perks status each month to continue to earn the higher APY.

Click to learn more about Perks.

I’m a Perks VIP or Platinum member. Why don’t I see the higher rate reflected when I click on my CD in It’s Me 247 Online Banking?

At the end of the quarter when dividends are calculated, you’ll receive the base dividend of 1.50% APY (24 months) or 2.00% APY (60 months). Then you’ll receive an additional dividend for the bonus APY you’ve earned by being a Platinum or VIP member. Only the base APY will be reflected in It’s Me 247 Online Banking.

Will I receive a notification when my CD matures?

Yes, you’ll receive a notification by mail or email when your CD is about to mature. Your CD will automatically roll over into another CD of the same or similar term unless you act to move the funds at maturity.

How much do I need to open this CD?

It’s important to us to make great savings rates available to all our members. The minimum to open a “It’s a Wonderful CD!” is just $500, compared to $1,000 for our regular CDs.

How does interest accrue?

Interest compounds quarterly and is posted to your account at the end of each quarter (end of March, end of June, end of September, and end of December).

Why do I have to open a savings account to open a CD?

A credit union is a not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution. Members pool their resources and credit union profits to provide low cost financial services. Credit unions are run by a volunteer board of directors, democratically elected by members. To use a credit union’s products and services, you must become a member with an ownership share. Your ownership share is a savings account with a hold of $1 in the account always. This gives you one vote in the credit union’s annual board of director’s elections, and the right to use KALSEE’s products and services.

What’s the penalty fee for early withdrawal?

If you choose to withdraw funds from your CD, you’ll be charged an early withdrawal fee. The amount of the fee varies based on the term of your CD and how long it’s been open. Call 269.382.7800 or stop in to any office to find out what your early withdrawal fee would be or refer to the disclosures provided at the time of account opening.

*APY = Annual Percentage Yield. Rates accurate as of 10/15/17. Rates subject to change. Available for a limited time on 24 or 60-month CDs with a minimum balance of $500 and maximum of $250,000 per member. Penalties for early withdrawal. Fees may reduce earnings. Kalsee Credit Union membership required. To earn the rate of 1.60% APY for 24 months, the member must attain and maintain Platinum status in KALSEE Credit Union’s Perks program; 1.75% APY for 24 months, VIP status; 2.10% APY for 60 months, Platinum status; 2.20% APY for 60 months, VIP status.
